Privacy Policy

Situ ("we", "the App") is a language trainer. We respect your privacy. This policy explains what data the App processes.

1. Personal data

Situ does not collect personal data. The App does not require registration and does not ask for your email, name, phone number, address, Apple device identifiers (IDFA, IDFV), or any other identifying information.

2. Data stored on your device

All your progress (learned phrases, statistics, phrases you have added, settings) is stored locally on your device via AsyncStorage. This data is not transmitted to our servers.

3. Anonymous data we transmit

• Translation and example generation (Anthropic Claude via Cloudflare Worker). When you use the built-in translator or view example contexts, the word or phrase you entered is sent to our Cloudflare Worker (memora-api.maksox.workers.dev) and then to the Anthropic Claude API. Requests are anonymous, are not linked to your identity, and are not stored after the response.
• Fallback translators. If AI translation is unavailable, Lingva Translate and MyMemory Translated.net are used. Only the word you entered is sent.
• Crash and error reporting (Sentry). If the App crashes or encounters a JavaScript error, an anonymous technical report (stack trace, OS version, device model) is sent to Sentry. No personal data is included.
• Product analytics (PostHog). The App sends anonymous behavior events (e.g. onboarding completed, quiz finished, phrase added) and an internal distinctId — a random string generated on your device on first launch, not linked to your Apple ID or email. Event metadata includes quiz type, scenario name, selected language; the actual phrase content is never sent. Purpose: improving the product.
• TTS playback. Most audio is pre-bundled with the App (mp3 from ElevenLabs). For languages without bundled audio, the iOS system TTS engine is used — no internet required.

4. Widget and Share Extension

The iOS home-screen widget and the Share Extension exchange data with the main App only locally on your device via the Apple App Group group.com.maksox.memora. No information from the widget or Share Extension is transmitted to our servers.

5. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

6. Your rights and data deletion

All on-device data can be deleted via Settings → Danger Zone → Delete All, or by uninstalling the App. To request deletion of anonymous analytics events, contact us.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The current version is always available at this URL. Significant changes are reflected in the App's release notes.
